Food Information Regulations (FIR) impact pack design

With a myriad of changes required to food specs on the back of the FIR will this result is a large reworking/review of product specifications for food sold in the EU.
As part of this it is likely that supplier specifications and packaging specifications will also require review.
Food companies who are trying to undertake this without good specification management software are going to be under intense pressure and there are risks that mistakes will creep in.
It is also possible that variables such as ingredient lists and full nutrition tables will need to be locked down at an earlier stage, this will increase the pressures on already stretched new product development processes (NPD)
Space constraints are will mean that there is likely to be less room for each language on multi lingual food labels.
The lack of explicit guidance from DEFRA has probably not helped.
