Will new scottish body for food safety increase the burden?

Yesterdays announcement form the Scottish Government to launch a new Scottish body for food safety, food standards, nutrition, food labelling and meat inspection could be seen as a negative development for the food industry supply chain.

Whilst there are likely to some advantages it could result in different interpretations and enforcement regimes over time.

Will this result in an increase in supply chain risk for food businesses?

I struggle to answer these questions, but get the feeling that this duplication will result in higher costs for taxpayers, who are also the consumers being protected, and await developments with trepidation over coming years.
