Exposing and isolating the bad apples in retail supply chain

Following the discovery of mercury in a large proportion of samples of high fructose corn syrup the editor made the point that the lack of honesty and integrity amongst a few ingredients producers and distributors around the world raises questions about the integrity of the whole of the supply chain.

Unfortunately for the food retail supply chain it is the bad apples who tarnish the excellent work being done by the majority of the industry, it is also the majority of the industry to end up with increased supplier assurance costs.

It may be time to identify a way for the majority of food businesses who have excellent systems to identify, expose and isolate those food businesses who risk the reputation of the entire supply chain.
