Brussels unveils food safety plans

Brussels has unveiled proposals for a package of changes which it says will modernise, simplify and strengthen food safety across Europe.

Sounds a bit like a tit for tat in response the the US Food Safety Modernisation Act (FSMA)

The reform package will cover plant health, seeds, animal health, official controls and common financial framework for food and feed.

The proposed regulations aim to simplify, yet strengthen, rules while removing avoidable duplications and unneccessary burdens said the EC.

We await further details with interest and I will keep readers posted.

Hope it doesn’t end up like the food information regulations (FIR)
