Food specifications & allergens, a data mountain

I was sitting in a meeting this week and the conversation got to the exciting subject of how to manage allergen declarations and allergen risk assessments plus all the information required to keep food product specifications, customer specifications and factory specifications, live and accurate at all times.

One of the managers present just put threw his hands in the air and said its impossible.

To a point he was right but also it could be said that all the data exists and the technology exists today in every food company to make this whole mountain of data easier to manage.

But technical managers in the food industry can be so buried in paperwork that they cannot see the wood from the trees, which is not a great place to be.

But it is really work taking a another look at your data management as what could not be done 5 or 10 years ago has now become straight forward and low cost.
